Virtual Sexual Dsyfunction - Internet Schizophrenia

Totally weird day in on-line land... here are two things discovered today:

A simulated virtual world called SecondLife www.secondlife.com (which I'm sure many geeks out there know about...) with 2 million participants. I guess they're on it partially to avoid reality and partially to roll out their products in the digital gaming market (a world I find questionable to begin with ... like advertising, a phenomenal waste of creative talent) Seems a gamer has come up with a Virtual Back Alley Rape fantasty - that you can participate in as either the victim or the perpetrator. http://www.gawker.com/assets/resources/2006/12/second%20life%20rape%20fun.php

Would the defense for this one be that violence if its virtual is cathartic and by safely playing out a fantasy people won't get raped for real? Or just a new way to entertain yourself on your computer? If this is a simulation of our world created by the participants, then yes, people and their fantasies will range the entire spectrum. Haven't heard any furor about this yet, except on gawker.com which is more snarky or observational, but surely there would be a restriction on this fantasy if this was pedophelia, right? But I guess two males and female in an alley is somehow more acceptable... maybe even fun?

And then, almost as a response, on this very same day, I'm alerted to the Purity Balls which originate in Colorado. Here fathers pledge to keep their babies pure, and the little ones pledge to save their virginity for their husbands. All on the dance floor doing fox trot. Speaking of pedophelia.... so this means little girls in Colorado understand that its Dad that owns my body until my husband does?
