Soldier Porn

Every time I click on the New York Times there is a new, hooded, gun toting rebel doing something somewhere. Lately its been Hamas at the Egyptian border or the Sudanese rebels now fighting each other.

What I can't help but notice is how erotic and appealing these pictures are. These young, muscled, swaggering men, toting enormous powerful weapons in waiting. In some of the pictures you see little boys in the background looking up to them. How could they not? What other future waits for them?

Men and guns are icons. What always seems to happen, is that fashion mimics this "look", and some of the Sudanese soldiers start to look like Jean Paul Gaultier models -- dark, fine boned, in billowy fabric, earth tones, amulets and ammo as accessories. Menace, muscle and sex. Soldier porn is becoming wallpaper.
