The French Ed Wood - and feeling fabulous
Listening to Anthony and the Johnsons and preparing my documents for my upcoming conference in Paris. This a.m. the French words seemed to flow, so I tried to get them down on paper. I'm hoping the organizer will smooth them over and make me sound even more fabulous then I feel. Right now, je peux m'exprimer, so its good.
I realized how dumb I am to cut my trip in Paris short, I'm going to beg and plead with the travel agent tomorrow. The organizer of the conference, Joachim, mentioned that I will be in the company of some of Paris's top filmmakers, and more excitingly, THE FRENCH ED WOOD. Now why this is extra interesting is because according to he who will not be named, I had a shnitzel in Berlin with THE GERMAN ED WOOD. So two Ed Woods in one year -- what could it possibley mean?
Saw Nan Goldin's new meditation on female suicide and self-destruction. As told in a three channel video/photo piece. Riveting, beautiful music, but a bit Nan -- surface and then knife wrenching -- and then surface again. Then saw "Well" by Lisa Kron on broadway -- a big, sloppy, brave mess of avant-theater dealing with hypochondria, illness and racial integration. Hey -- the girl went for it.
Seeing Munch today -- feeling fucking cultural.
And the ex lovers are crawling out of the woodwork. Like little worms onto the pavement after the rain. And it is still raining. Will more be surfacing?
