Israel and the Mosquitos

I'm being devoured. And not just by bugs. Buffy, the licking love-dog is nearby, constantly licking me ... and lately Raus, the black shaved mewing cat has been grooming my arm and poking my face as well. Sleeping in the zoo known as 8 Hess St. Tel Aviv chez Etai and Ma'ayan. Very nice to be here, as always, especially when Etai cooks organic dinners and we drink wine.

Had a long treacherous day of pitching and shmoozing at the Israeli documentary market. Had lunch with some very nice people, but then it all spiraled. The women who pitched their project to me this morning "one on one" were busy checking their cell phones the whole time, which as a funder, makes you feel unimportant. The day's pitches were interesting - one soft core lesbian film about hot chics in the army and the seduction of the recruits by the horny lesbian filmmaker - but in all it made me antsy to do my own work. Deeply so - to do it, be done with it, wash hands of it, come back with finished product and then move on. Especially since my film is so damn interesting... so damn interesting.

Had some very nice exchanges with funders and broadcasters, but still need to harvest more business cards... but the problem is... the immovable dread. The stone of doom that is partially menstrual, but also just enormous, almost insurmountable. I feel unable to overcome the desire to disappear.

I just might... I actually am. My ride just arrived to whisk me a way somewhere fun and far and warm.

Hey Nancy - glad to hear that you are in Israel and loving where you are staying.

Regarding the "inevitable dread" you keep remembering that you are a fabulous woman who has every right to be there, to do your work and to have your film. Anyone who says differently is just full of sh#*.

Know that many many people love you, support you, believe in you and believe in your project.

Sending you support, hugs and love.

Enjoy Israel for me!!
